Quality Mentoring Program Certification

We are proud to award the Gold Program Partner badge to Western Youth Network (WYN) in recognition of their commitment to providing excellence and quality in their mentoring services. This award speaks directly to their belief that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential and WYN’s commitment to doing all they can to make that possible for youth in their community.

Western Youth Network’s (WYN) Mentoring Program is thrilled to be awarded the Gold Program Partner badge in recognition of our commitment to providing excellence in our mentoring services. WYN’s Mission is to transform the High Country community by nurturing and empowering our children so that they live healthy, engaged and fulfilled lives. The mission is accomplished through WYN’s Mentoring Program which has been providing the only youth mentoring services in rural Avery and Watauga Counties since 1985. WYN continues to grow and now offers community-based and school-based mentoring to over 200 youth annually.

Having started as a grassroots community youth serving organization, WYN has worked independently to develop programs to adhere to the best practice standards of mentoring, utilizing the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™. Additionally, we have sought out means to address the unique needs of our smaller rural communities. Working with Sonia through the National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS) helped our program realize our potential and excel in areas where we previously lacked support. The experience with NQMS enhanced our services so that we can continue to provide the best quality mentoring programs for High Country youth.”
